Kenya Outreach Mission (KOM)

KOM was founded by the late Bishop Andrew Kimaro in 1997 to mobilize the church in Kenya to reach the unreached people groups of the Northern Frontiers that are primarily made up of indigenous tribes with animistic beliefs and nominal Muslim culture. This area is influenced by the geopolitical nations of Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, and Somalia. It is officially under the Kenyan government but due to the rugged terrain and remote access it remains isolated.

The territory is arid and harsh year round. Most of the indigenous tribes are nomadic. The radical Muslim influence of the ‘el Shabaab’ meaning “The Youth” are organized in Somalia. They are a jihadist group (militant islamist) functioning as a cell of al-Qaeda. They enforce strict Sharia law in some rural regions and are attempting to influence this isolated area of Northern Kenya.

The two dozen KOM missionary families live with those they are reaching out to and survive on approximately $300 per month. They faithfully share the gospel, serve the children with education and care, as well as establish their homes and churches in the region of their ministry.

We are privileged to serve with them in monthly support and annual training. As today, we also stand with then in prayer.
