Book 3 – These Last Days (not yet published)
The Unveiling series has three goals: first, it introduces seven simple keys that open apocalyptic literature; second, it uses these keys to comment on all 404 verses of the Book of Revelation; and third, it pursues the historical process leading to the four dominant perspectives or lenses through which prophecy is interpreted (preterism, historicism, idealism, and futurism).
Book 1 of The Unveiling describes the seven keys that open the Book of Revelation to the Jesus follower of the first century and the twenty-first century with practical application and life lessons. This study cuts through the confusion and honors the library of Scripture through the ages.
Book 2 of The Unveiling is a commentary on the seven faceted jewel of the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave Him to show His bondservants what was to come. These seven visions, as seven facets of a jewel, cannot all be seen at once. They are revealed, however, as refracting light of understanding on each of the other six facets. This is the complete and great reveal of God to His bondservants for this age.
Book 3 of The Unveiling is a walk through history from 300 BC to the present with the understanding and dominant teaching of eschatology. It begins with the rabbinical teaching of chiliasm in the silent years after Malachi. It reminds us of the first century expectation of the early church. Then the developing and dominant ideas of the next nine centuries. It traces the historical and political influences of interpretation and application leading up to the industrial age. Finally, it will step through the revivals and their impact on closure of the great commission, the secret rapture and end times emphasis of the modern era. This book brings all the perspectives into the light and library of Scripture for the bond servant of God two persevere until the end.
Writing on the Revelation of Jesus Christ is not just a daunting challenge but a humbling experience. The Scriptures are clear that there is nothing new under the sun; and I do not think my efforts are so unique as having not been considered before now. But I do hope to reintroduce The Revelation and this reality of a fresh and possibly renewed perspective into the conversation. My motive is to bring God’s amazing disclosure back into the Christian conversation devotionally and practically. I don’t want to just make a point, I want to make a difference.
